St. Patricks Day Greeting Card Ideas

Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated every year on March 17th. While it is a national holiday in Ireland, in the United States it is not an offical holiday, but it is widely celebrated.
Green ribbons or clothing is worn, even green body or face paint, to celebrate St Patricks Day. It is also customary to wear a shamrock or shamrock inspired jewelry, clothing or designs.
The Shamrock is a three leaved plant that legend tells us, Saint Patrick used to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish people.
St. Patrick’s day is celebrated by Irish and non-Irish alike. Many people wear green colored clothing and items whether or not they have an Irish background. It is tradition to “pinch” (hopefully gently) those who are not wearing green. Some cities like Chicago and Indianapolis dye their rivers green.
Many cities hold parades. The longest running one is in Boston which has been held on St. Patrick’s day since 1737!
On St. Patricks day we are all Irish. Here are some Irish blessings and sayings that you could put into greeting cards at CardCafe.com and send to your friends for St. Patrick’s day:
May you always have
Walls for the wind
A roof for the rain
Tea beside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
Those you love near you
And all your heart may desire
May you be in heaven
a half an hour before
the devil knows you’re dead
May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow
and may trouble avoid you wherever you go
May you live to be a hundred years
with one extra year to repent
May your neighbors respect you,
Troubles neglect you,
Angels protect you,
And Heaven accept you.
Dance as if no one were watching
Sing as if no one were listening
Live every day as if it were your last!
May you live as long as you want, and never want as long as you live.
Put one of these sayings on a greeting card and send to your loved ones. CardCafe makes this easy to do. They will appreciate receiving real card in the mail as you wish them a happy St. Patrick’s day!
