Christmas cards have become a way to keep in touch. Every year, my family gets many, and my wife sends out many. But the ones that really stand out are not the ones we receive before Christmas, but rather the thank you cards that we send and receive after Christmas.
Now getting kids (of all ages) to send thank you cards can be hard, it is not easy to find the cards, write the message, find the envelope, find the stamp, address the card, send it, etc.
But with CardCafe, it is very easy. If you have a digital camera, you can even take a picture of the gift in use, and of the expression of joy and gratitude on the face of the recipient, and make that into a card to send to the giver.
And there is no finding paper, pens, envelope, and stamps, no trips to the post office, no setting the cards aside to take to the post office (because of course they are not open on Christmas Day) and then forgetting to drop them in the mail. You can simply go to cardcafe.com and create your thank you cards (or help your children create theirs,) type in the recipients’ address, and CardCafe does all the rest for you!

It never ceases to amaze me how many different groups or niches there are which can be a great way to sell online greeting cards. I think it is critical that you find a niche market or have a great marketing plan in order to succeed in this business. What do you love to do? What hobbies do you have? What connections do you have? What group of people does or could send greeting cards? Do you know of a business that specializes in photo products but does not offer greeting cards? (Photo cards are VERY popular)
Once you found the group or niche you want to go after, do a little research. Check to see if you will have competitors in that vertical. A couple of competitors are fine, but you probably do not want more than 2-3.
The reality is you can get the entire website set up for almost nothing. Card Café has affiliate programs where you can get completely set up for less than $1000. However, the set up is the easy part – selling the cards is a little more tricky….

When I was growing up, greeting cards were never a big thing. Sometimes we would get a birthday card with out gifts, but other than that rare occasion, I just didn’t seem them very often. As such, I never learned to give them, either.
That, however, has to change.
I got married a few months ago. The one thing my wife specifically asked me to do for her was get her a greeting card for the big day. I thought to myself “Why would you want that? Okay. Whatever.” and then promptly forgot to do so. Oops. Luckily, she was slightly occupied with other things, so I didn’t get in too much trouble.
But when her birthday or our anniversary rolls around that’s probably going to be different.
CardCafe will do the job for me though. I don’t have to remember to go by a store and look for a card to get her. I just have to check it out when I have a spare minute at the computer. And I can do it in advance. Schedule it so It arrives on the day and make sure I won’t forget. I can even make a card with a picture of us on the front or some cheesy thing like that. I’m sure she’d love it. Only thing I’m missing is scheduling flowers right along side it. Of course they do have chocolates, so I’m set there too.
Like I said, CardCafe has my back.
